What is planned?
Notice of Confirmation of Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Section 257 Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Section 53A(2) Dorset Council (Part of Footpath 34, Gillingham) Public Path Diversion Order 2026
On 31 July 2026 Dorset Council confirmed the above order. Whilst this order is confirmed it is not yet operational, by virtue of Article 2 of the order.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert part of Footpath 34, Gillingham as shown on the order map as follows:

The full width of the footpath from the unaffected part of Footpath 34 at ST 81584 25568 generally southeast for 143 metres to ST 81706 25518 then generally east for 26 metres to ST 81733 25517 where it meets Footpath 33.

The order comes into force on the date on which Dorset Council certify that the terms of Article 2 of the order have been complied with but if any person aggrieved by the order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the order.
He or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to the Act.

Temporary Closure of Tut Hill, Alweston
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 28 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 23 October 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and
resurfacing works.
The effect of the order is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Tut Hill, Alweston from junction with Holt Hill to outside Yew Tree Farm (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1310 metres. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads. [2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Tut Hill, Alweston from junction with Holt Hill to outside Yew Tree Farm (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1310 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Hermitage Road, Hermitage
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended.
The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 07 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 06 October 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.
The effect of the Order is as follows:
[1] To impose a temporary road closure on HERMITAGE ROAD, HERMITAGE, between its junction with A352 and Flamberts Farm, a distance of approximately 3980 metres.
[2] To impose a parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent parking on the highway along HERMITAGE ROAD, HERMITAGE, between its junction with A352 and Flamberts Farm, a distance of approximately 3980 metres.
[3] To impose a clearway as indicated by signs on site to prevent parking on the highway along HERMITAGE ROAD, HERMITAGE, between its junction with A352 and Flamberts Farm, a distance of approximately 3980 metres.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
