ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 23

INSTALLATION OF A SIGNALISED PEDESTRIAN CROSSING A646 BURNLEY ROAD, TODMORDEN

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of Calderdale in exercise of its powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and having consulted with the Chief of Police proposes to install a signalised pedestrian crossing on A646 Burnley Road, Todmorden to the south east of its junction with Victoria Close. The limits of the crossing will be approximately 4.50  metres.

The crossing will enable pedestrians to cross Burnley Road to Todmorden C of E Primary School, Todmorden cricket club and a cemetery. The crossing will also enable pedestrians heading to and from Todmorden town centre the opportunity to cross Burnley Road.

The crossing will incorporate a controlled area indicated by zig-zag markings along the carriageway where parking and loading will be prohibited.

The extents of the controlled area are:-

•   North west side, to extend 17.5 metres to the north west of the crossing,

•   South east side to extend 13.5 metres to the south east of the crossing.
