The Secretary of State gives notice of an Order made under Section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping up of Highways (North West) (No.33) Order 2026” authorising the stopping up an irregular shaped area of highway comprising the Town Hall Square, a southern part width of The Esplanade, a length of Vicars Gate, a length Packer Street and the car parking area surrounding Rochdale Town Hall at Rochdale in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. This is to enable development as permitted by Rochdale Borough Council, under Schedule 2 Part 12 Class A of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015.
Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, Transport Infrastructure Planning Casework Unit, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ or nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk (quoting NATTRAN/NW/S247/4405). They may also be inspected during normal opening hours at Rochdale Borough Council, Number 1 Riverside Smith Street, OL16 1 XU.
Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the Order may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from 5 August 2026.
