NOTICE UNDER ARTICLE 15 OF APPLICATION FOR PLANNING PERMISSION ACCOMPANIED BY AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT AND UNDER THE PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990

KCC/TH/0088/2026 – Proposed development for North Thanet Link Scheme located to the south of the existing A28 corridor, south-west of Margate, Thanet, Kent.

Kent County Council Major Capital Programme Team is applying to Kent County Council Planning Applications Group for planning permission for the construction of North Thanet Link (NTL) to include creation of new highway link between the A28 south of Birchington and Acol Hill; widening of Manston Road (Birchington); new highway link between Manston Road and Columbus Avenue (Acol); widening and part realignment of Shottendane Road; new highway link between Shottendane Road and Manston Road (Margate); creation of new junctions (primarily roundabouts), signalised crossings and junction improvements along NTL route; associated works including drainage ponds/features, lighting, access alterations, landscaping, environmental mitigation and temporary construction compounds.

• The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement

• The proposed development affects Public Rights of Way

• The proposed development may affect the setting of Listed Buildings

Electronic copies of the Environmental Statement (ES) can be downloaded free of charge from the above website. The ES, or individual chapters or specific sections of the ES can be provided in paper format on request to the applicant at norththanetlink@kent.gov.uk. A charge will apply to cover costs of printing and postage and will be confirmed upon request.

We accept comments online via the direct link on the County Council’s website or by email to planning.applications@kent.gov.uk. You may also write to Planning Applications Group, Kent County Council, County Hall, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1XQ although we would strongly encourage you to submit comments online or by email at this time due to ongoing hybrid working arrangements.

Comments are accepted within 30 days from the date of this notice (by 22 August 2026). Please quote the application reference number (KCC/TH/0088/2026) and note that comments may be drawn to the attention of Council Members, the applicant and other interested persons and may include publishing on the Borough Council website.
