York – Proposed Stopping Up of Highway & Footpath

The Secretary of State hereby gives notice of the proposal to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping up of an irregular shaped southern part width of Long Close Lane, a length of Hope Street and a length of unnamed footpath as lies off Hope Street at York, in the City of York.

If the order is made, the stopping up will be authorised only in order to enable development as permitted by City of York Council under reference 25/02537/FULM.

Copies of the draft order and relevant plan will be available for inspection during normal opening hours at Walmgate Bar Post Office, 85 Walmgate, York YO1 9UA and City of York Council, West Offices Station Rise, York YO1 6GA in the 28 days commencing on 14 July 2026, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State (quoting NATTRAN/Y&H/S247/6348) at the address stated below.

Any person may object to the making of the proposed order by stating their reasons in writing to the Secretary of State at nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk or National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ, quoting the above reference. Objections should be received by midnight on 11 August 2026.
