THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO PARKING CONTROLS IN RIDGEMOUNT (D4019) WITHIN THE GUILDFORD TOWN CENTRE CONTROLLED PARKING ZONE IN THE BOROUGH OF GUILDFORD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Surrey County Council (“the Council”) proposes to make an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 49, 51 and 53 and Parts III and IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the 1984 Act’) the effect of which will be to further amend “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in the Borough of Guildford) (Guildford Town Centre Controlled Parking Zone) (Consolidation of Waiting and Loading Restrictions and Street Parking Places and Revocation) Order 2025” (“the Order of 2025”). The Order, to be known as “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in the Borough of Guildford) (Guildford Town Centre Controlled Parking Zone) (Consolidation of Waiting and Loading Restrictions Street Parking Places and Revocation) Amendment Order (No._) 202__” which proposes to make the change as described below.
The general purpose and effect of the Order will be to:
(a) convert some of the existing parking controls in Ridgemount (D4019), Guildford as described in paragraph (b) below,
(b) convert the existing No Waiting single yellow lines operating between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive to No Waiting at Any Time of the day or night throughout the week double yellow lines,
(c) in respect of the proposed No Waiting at Any Time Restrictions referred to in paragraph (b) above, provide that the usual exemptions in respect of loading and unloading vehicles, boarding and alighting from vehicles, using vehicles for works on or adjoining the affected length of road, the maintenance of that road and the services in it and for disabled persons’ vehicles in accordance with the “Blue Badge” Scheme would apply,
(d) carry out a legal drafting amendment to the Order of 2025 which will not affect any of the on-street parking controls enforced by that Order in any way whatsoever.
CONVERT EXISTING NO WAITING APPLYING BETWEEN 8.30 A.M. AND 6 P.M. ON MONDAYS TO SATURDAYS INCLUSIVE – SINGLE YELLOW LINE TO NO WAITING AT ANY TIME – DOUBLE YELLOW LINES
Ridgemount (D4019) (On the south-west side from the northwestern kerb-line of the access road to and from the site of the former Bus Depot and No. 7 Ridgemount (currently under re-development to provide 10 new residential dwellings) north-westwards for 6.658 metres).
A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan showing the precise details of the parking controls proposed to be converted, a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for Proposing to Make the Order and the Order of 2025 (and the plans which accompany that sealed Order), may be inspected, free of charge, from Friday 10 July 2026 –
(a) at Guildford Library, 77 North Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4AL on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m.; or
(b) at the Main Reception, Guildford Borough Council Offices, Millmead House, Millmead, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4BB during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive; or
(c) by prior arrangement and appointment only at Guildford Borough Council’s Parking Office situated at Bedford Road Multi-storey Car Park (Level 2), Laundry Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4PX (Telephone No. (01483) 505050 or Email: Parking@guildford.gov.uk) during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive; or
(d) by prior arrangement by telephoning or emailing the County Council’s Merrow Complex, situated at Merrow Lane, Merrow, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ (Telephone No. 0300 200 1003 or Email: highways@surreycc.gov.uk) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays inclusive and 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Fridays.
If you wish to object or make any other representation to the proposed Traffic Regulation Order you must send the grounds for your objection or representation (including any in support) -
(i) in writing, to Ms L Monie at Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Merrow, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, or
(ii) by email at tdp.guildford@surreycc.gov.uk by Friday 7 August 2026 quoting reference LSEN/10644/GLD/AK/PAG.
