Pendle Borough Council has considered whether to designate a part of Colne as a conservation area. An appraisal was undertaken by conservation consultants and an extensive consultation with residents of the area was undertaken to seek their views.
After carefully considering all comments made, the Executive determined that the area around Keighley Road had historical and architectural merit. Accordingly, under Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Keighley Road Conservation Area has now been formally designated.
