THE OLDHAM UPPERMILLL AREA 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT ORDER

The Oldham Borough Council on 1st July 2026 made an Order under Section 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to impose a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on

A670 High Street 90m South of its junction with Bridge Street in a northerly direction to
Dobcross New Road Bridge Street - entire length 

Kenworthy Gardens from High Street for its entire length

Pickmere Mews from Kenworthy Gardens for its entire length

Telford Mews from Kenworthy Gardens for its entire length

Un-named access road to the rear of Warburton Close from High Street for its entire length

Tame Street from High Street for its entire length

Wade Row from High Street for its entire length

Hopkinson Close from Tame Street for its entire length

Chapel Street from High Street for its entire length

Church Road - from High Street to New Street
Moorgate Street from High Street for 65 metres westerly
New Street from High Street to Church Road
Smithy Lane from High Street for its entire length

Bolton's Yard from New Street for its entire length

Station Road from Smithy Lane to 15 metres north of
Merlewood Avenue

Walkers Close from Station Road for its entire length
Lee Street from Station Road for its entire length
Court Street from High Street for its entire length
Spring Street from High Street for its entire length
School Street from High Street for its entire length
Mill Street from High Street for its entire length
Bridge Street from High Street for a distance of 45 metres south easterly

The Order will come into operation on 8th July 2026 
A copy of the Order and a map showing the lengths of road referred to and a copy of the Council's statement of reasons may be examined at my office between the hours of 8.40am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, Telephone 0161 770 4836 Spindles Oldham Ref: LJM/TO25/16 VF25232.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within 6 weeks from the date hereof apply to the High Court for the purpose.
