PUBLIC FOOTPATH DIVERSION ORDER 2026

On 16 June 2026, Vale of White Horse District Council confirmed the above Order.

The above Order was made on 14 August 2025 under section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert the footpath as described in Schedule 1 of this notice and as shown on the Order Map.

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at the offices of Vale of White Horse District Council from 8.30a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

This Order comes into force on the date that Oxfordshire County Council certifies the Order, but if any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the Order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to that Act.

SCHEDULE

PART 1

Description of site of existing footpath path (A-B-C-D-E) (as indicated on the map) Path to be Extinguished

The existing footpath commences at grid reference SU 43197 193474 at a way-marked finger post on Church Street and passes through a five-bar pedestrian gate adjacent to the sign “Home Farm Office, Saddlestones”. It continues in a broadly SSW direction through the parking area in front of the property before joining a concrete access track to the farm buildings, passing to the south of Saddlestones.

After approximately 60m, the footpath turns SW (Point B), continuing along the farm track to the NW of the large open-sided agricultural building for a further c.17 metre (Point C).

It then turns SE for a further c.40 metre on hardstanding surrounding, passing to the south of the above-mentioned agricultural building.

After passing the agricultural building, the footpath turns SSW (at Point D) and continues for approximately 38m along agricultural track until the diversion ends at (Point E), at grid reference SU 431884 193341.

PART 2

Description of site of alternative footpath (X-B-C-Y-E)

Footpath to be created

The starting point of the footpath is to the south east of Point A and runs from Point X, such that it follows the existing concrete access track and continues in a broadly SSW direction, passing to the south of Saddlestones and rejoining the existing footpath at Point B for approximately 17 metres.

Rather than turning SE at Point C the footpath continues SW for approximately 40 metres to Point Y.

It turns SE for approximately 45 metres to the point where the diversion ends (Point E), at grid reference SU 431884 193341 and where the connection to footpath 338/6/10 can be gained.

The length in metres of the section to be diverted is approximately 155m and the proposed footpath would have a width of 3.0 metres.

The path will be constructed to the satisfaction of the Highway Authority.
