The Secretary of State gives notice of an Order made under Section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping up of Highway (North East) (No.8) Order 2026” authorising the stopping up of an irregular shaped area of highway to the north of Dolphin Street at Benwell, in the City of Newcastle. This is to enable development as permitted by Newcastle City Council under reference 2025/1729/01/DET.
Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ or nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk (quoting NATTRAN/NE/ S247/6202). They may also be inspected during normal opening hours at West End Library and Community Hub, 6 Condercum Road, Benwell, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE4 9JH.
Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the Order may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from 23 June 2026.
