NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF ARTICLE 4 DIRECTION

TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (GENERAL PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT) (ENGLAND) ORDER 2015, as amended (“the GPDO”)
Direction under Article 4(1) of the GPDO

The above Direction was made on 9 December 2025 and confirmed on 9 June 2026 and will come into effect on the 1 January 2027 and applies to the land in the wards of Lockleaze, Eastville, and Fromevale in the City of Bristol outlined in red on the map annexed to the Direction (‘the Land’).

The effect of the Direction is that permission granted by article 3 of the GPDO shall not apply to development consisting of a change of the use of a building to a use falling within Class C4 (houses in multiple occupation) of the Schedule to the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 from a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouse) of that Schedule being development comprised within Class L of Part 3 of Schedule 2 to the said GPDO and not being development comprised within any other Class and that such development shall not be carried out on the Land unless planning permission is granted by the Council on an application made to them.

A copy of the Direction and of the map defining the area of Land covered by it may be seen free of charge at the offices of the Council at City Hall, College Green, Bristol during normal office hours. Copies of the Direction and map may be bought there at a price of £0.30. Copies of the Direction and map may be sent by second class post on receipt of a written request at a price of £6.00 to cover the Council’s administrative costs.
