Town And Country Planning (General Permitted Development) - (England) Order 2015 As Amended - Notice Of Direction Under Article 4(1) Without Immediate Effect Relating To The Removal Of Some Permitted Development Rights Poets Road Conservation Area

Notice is given that on 9th June 2026 The London Borough of Islington has made a direction ("the Direction") under Article 4(1) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended) ("the Order") to withdraw the Permitted Development to dwellinghouses being development comprised within of Parts 1 and 2 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being development comprised within any other Class.

The Direction withdraws the permitted development right in respect of development comprised within Parts 1 and 2 of Schedule 2 to the GPDO being development consisting of:

Development Within the Curtilage of a Dwellinghouse

1. The enlargement, improvement or other alteration of the windows and doors of a dwellinghouse, being development comprised within Class A of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being development comprised within any other Class.

2. Any alteration to the roof of a dwellinghouse where the alteration in question is the installation of roof lights to a roof slope which is visible from the highway, being development comprised within Class C of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being development comprised within any other Class.

3. The erection or construction of a porch outside any external door of a dwellinghouse, being development comprised within Class D of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being development comprised within any other Class.

4. The alteration, replacement or removal of a brick chimney on a dwellinghouse, being development comprised within Class G of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being comprised within any other Class.

Minor Operations

5. The erection, construction, improvement or alteration of a gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure where the gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure would front the highway, being development comprised within Class A of Part 2 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being development comprised within any other Class.

6. The painting of the exterior of any building which is previously unpainted, being development comprised within Class C of Part 2 of Schedule 2 to the said Order and not being development comprised within any other Class.

The effect of the Direction is that once it comes into force the permission granted by Article 3 of the Order shall not apply to the development specified above and such development shall not be carried out within the areas to which the Direction applies, unless planning permission is granted by the Council.

It is proposed that the Direction will come into force on 31st July 2027.

The Direction relates to:

All the land and buildings situated thereon in the Poets Road Conservation Area, London, within The London Borough of Islington as follows:

• Numbers 1-85 (odd) and 2-76 (even) Grosvenor Avenue

• Numbers 1-71 (odd) and 2-60 (even) Beresford Road

• Numbers 1-65 (odd) and 2-70 (even) Pyrland Road

• Numbers 1-71 (odd) and 12-72 (even) Ferntower Road

• Numbers 1-71 (odd), 2-50 (even) and Masefield Court, Poets Road

• Numbers 25-97 (odd) and 2-62 (even) Leconfield Road

• Numbers 3-107 (odd) and 26-104 (even) Petherton Road
