Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council
Dear Sir/Madam,
In 2027, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (NPTCBC), with grant funding support from the Welsh Government's Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) programme, intends to commence flood alleviation works at Grandison Brook in Briton Ferry, Neath.

A full planning application for the Grandison Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme has now been submitted to the local planning authority. Further details will be available to view on the Council's planning portal from 5th June 2026.

The flood alleviation scheme will be delivered by NPTCBC in partnership with Welsh Government in order to safeguard the local residents and increase the community's resilience against the risk of flooding.

The scheme is designed to reduce flood risk to both residential and commercial properties in Briton Ferry, providing protection against a 1 in 100 year flood event. The works will directly protect 292 properties and will greatly benefit the surrounding community.

The works are currently programmed to commence in early 2027, with an estimated construction period of approximately 18 months. Throughout the delivery of the scheme, every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the local community and landowners. This includes maintaining safe and continuous access to businesses and commercial properties within Briton Ferry for the duration of the works.

Should you have any further queries or require further information, please contact the above
named Officer.

Yours sincerely, Richard Colman Drainage Manager
