NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees ("the Council") has confirmed, on Wednesday 10 June 2026, a Direction made under Article 4(1) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended)("the Direction"), following consideration of all representations received. The Direction relates to development consisting of a change of use of a building from a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouses) of Schedule 1 to the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 (as amended) to a use falling within Class C4 (houses in multiple occupation) of that Schedule, being development comprised within Class L(b) of Part 3 of Schedule 2 to the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended).The Direction removes permitted development rights for this type of development with effect from the date on which it comes in force. The Direction shall come into force on Monday 22nd March 2027.The Direction applies to the entire area of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, shown edged red on the map accompanying the Direction. A copy of the Direction, including the map, can be inspected at Stockton Central Library and Customer Service Centre and at all other libraries within the Borough during normal opening hours, or online at: https://www.stockton.gov.uk/ article-4-directions
