What is planned?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Foley Drive, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Foley Drive from the extended western kerbline of the access road to Foley Drive Car Park (Car Park to remain open) to its junction with Tame Road. Traffic will be diverted via Tame Road, Kingsway & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 18/06/2026, effective from 15/06/2026 (7pm-6am only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Station Road and Thompson Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) and (Station Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Footway Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road, which will be closed between the junctions of Western Road (eastern side) & Thompson Road (eastern side), & Thompson Road, which will be closed at the junction of Station Road. Station Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Tat Bank Road, Western Road & vice versa. Thompson Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Highbury Road & Bloxcidge Street to join the Station Road diversion route. The order will also temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along both footways in Station Road, which will be closed between the junctions of Western Road (eastern side) & Thompson Road (eastern side) for the duration of the above works. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Thompson Road, New Henry Street, Langley Green Road, Mill Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration for the initial closure is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 19/06/2026, effective from 18/06/2026 (11pm-5am). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Shinwell Crescent, Oldbury) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the footway from the gable end of property number 56 Shinwell Crescent to the dividing line of property No’s 58/60. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A local pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Shinwell Crescent. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 19/06/2026 (5pm), effective from 17/06/2026 (9am). Purpose – to facilitate access for telecommunication works by Openreach.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Deighton Road, Thorncroft Way and Planetree Road, Walsall) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Deighton Road, Thorncroft Way & Planetree Road as detailed below under a phased programme of works: Deighton Road closed at the junction of Redwood Road (15th-29th June 2026). Thorncroft Way closed from the junction of Planetree Road (western side) to the carriageway centre line of Redwood Road (29th June-13th July 2026). Planetree Road closed at the junction of Thorncroft Way (13th-27th July 2026). Access to any affected frontages within all road closures will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 27/07/2026, effective from 15/06/2026 (24hr). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Kelvin Way, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closures), (Spon Lane and Ault Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary One-Way Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Kelvin Way (westerly direction), which will be closed from the roundabout at the junction of Kenrick Way, Spon Lane South & Trinity Way to the junction of Ault Street (eastern side) & Kelvin Way (easterly direction), which will be closed one-way between the junctions of Johnston Street (eastern side) & Spon Lane (western side). The order also intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Ault Street, which will be closed one-way in a southerly direction at the junction of Kelvin Way & Spon Lane, which will be closed one-way in a northerly direction from the junction of Kelvin Way. A traffic diversion route for the Kelvin Way road closures will be signed via Spon Lane South, Oldbury Road, Birmingham Road, Oldbury Ringway, Bromford Lane, Fountain Lane, West Bromwich Street, Oldbury Road, Albion Road, Brandon Way & vice versa. A traffic diversion route for the Spon Lane one-way road closure will be signed via Trinity Way, High Street & Bull Street. A traffic diversion route for the Ault Street one-way closure will be signed via Kenrick Way, Trinity Way & Spon Lane South. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 14/06/2026, effective from 12/06/2026 (8pm-6am each evening/morning). Purpose – to facilitate access for carriageway resurfacing works by Parade Civil Engineering on behalf of Sandwell MBC.
