MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, SECTION 119 WILDLIFE AND

COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981, SECTION 53A(2)

ORDER NO. 02, 2026

DEFINITIVE FOOTPATH SOWERBY BRIDGE 174

The above Order was made on the 20th day of May 2026,under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order will be to divert the above public footpath as follows:

From the existing route shown by a continuous black line on the attached map commencing at grid reference SE05062407 (point A) and proceeding in an easterly direction for approximately 72 metres concluding at its junction with Rose Grove Lane at grid reference SE05132407 (point B) with a width of 1.2 metres; To the new path shown by a broken black line commencing at grid reference SE05062407 (point A) and running in an easterly direction for approximately 80 metres with a width varying between 1.5 metres and 0.9 metres to its junction with Rose Grove Lane at grid reference SE05142407 (point C). The surface is crushed stone. There is a flight of 13 steps for 11 metres west from point C and a handrail, approximately 47 metres long, west from point C.

A copy of the Order and the Order map has been placed and may be seen free of charge from the Halifax Central Library, Halifax, HX1 1QG, from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm on

Mondays and Thursdays, 10.00 am to 5.30 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 10.00 am to 4.00 pm Saturdays. Copies of the Order and map may be obtained at the same address.

Any representation about or objection to the Order may be sent to rightsofway@calderdale.gov.uk or sent in writing to the Public Rights of Way Officer, Strategic Infrastructure, Calderdale Council, Mulcture House, Mulcture Hall Road, Halifax, HX1 1SP, not later than 2nd July 2026, please state the grounds on which it is made quoting reference ROW/SB174/W256 when making any such representation or objection.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Borough Council of Calderdale may itself confirm the Order as an unopposed order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent along with the Order.
