(TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
The Scottish Borders Council, on 26 May 2026 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 84(1) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended made the above Order. The Order will come into operation on 8 June 2026.
The effect of the Order is to make permanent The Scottish Borders Council (Speed Limits, Leitholm) (Experimental Traffic Regulation) Order 2024 and will be to introduce 20 miles per hour and 30 miles per hour speed limits in lengths of road in Leitholm in the interests of public and road safety and traffic management.
A copy of the permanent Order as made, together with a map showing said lengths of road can be inspected at Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and also at the Council’s Contact Centre, Newtown Street, Duns TD11 3AU during normal working hours.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 8 June 2026 make application for the purpose to the Court of Session.

Applications for planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent listed below together with the plans and other documents submitted with them may be examined at Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells between the hours of 9am and 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 9am and 3.30pm on Friday.
Written comments may be made to the Service Director - Regulatory Services, Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SA within 21 days from the date of the publication of this notice. Alternatively, representations can be made online by visiting our web site at http://eplanning.scotborders. gov.uk/online-applications/ It is also possible to visit any library and use the Planning Public Access system to view documents. To do this, please contact your nearest library to book time on a personal computer. Please state clearly whether you are objecting, supporting or making a general comment. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, representations may be made available for public inspection.
