Delamere Street - Notice That Adopted a New Scheme of Members’ Allowances
What is planned?
CHESHIRE EAST BOROUGH COUNCIL
Cheshire East Council hereby gives notice that, on 13 May 2026, the Council adopted a new Scheme of Members’ Allowances.
In considering the scheme, and in accordance with the Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003, the Council had regard to the recommendations of its Independent Remuneration Panel as set out in the report considered by Council on 13 May 2026.
The new scheme of allowances is aligned to the Leader and Cabinet system of governance, which also came into force on 13 May 2026. In summary, the scheme sets out the allowances payable to Councillors, including the basic allowance, special responsibility allowances (Cabinet and Committee chairs), and other associated payments.
The Council also agreed that any increases to allowances will be linked to the annual NJC pay award for local government staff for a four-year period commencing on 1 April 2027.
Copies of the scheme may be inspected at the Council’s offices at Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe CW1 2LL, during normal office hours.
The scheme is also available on the Council’s website at www.cheshireeast.gov.uk.
