Westfield Common, Woking - Planning application for multiple improvements
What is planned?
QUINN ESTATES LTD has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006/section 23(2) of the National Trust Act 1971/article 12 of the Greater London Parks and Open Spaces Order 1967* to carry out restricted works on Westfield Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State. The proposed works are: in relation to outline planning application ref. PLAN/2026/0042, (i) a raised boardwalk though the wooded area of the Common Land acting as a new footway and cycleway; (ii) a new pedestrian and cycle access to serve new facilities; (iii) one new vehicular access to serve the development and (iv) the widening of two existing vehicular accesses currently serving the golf course.
The works will be located in the western section of the Westfield Common Land, north and east of the existing Sutton Green Golf Club. The proposed works will create new accesses to accommodate the proposed development at Sutton Green Golf Club (also known as “Stonehouse Park”). The proposed works will create a new pedestrian / cycle access from Westfield Road into the northern part of the site via a boardwalk and a further pedestrian / cycle access in the northeast from New Lane. Vehicular accesses are proposed from New Lane, comprising one new multi-modal access and the enhancement of two existing access points currently serving the golf course, each incorporating improved pedestrian and cycle infrastructure.
