What is planned?
Notice of Intention to Dispose of an Asset of Community Value – Drapers Windmill, St Peter’s footpath, Margate, CT9 2SP.
The Owner of the above property (Kent County Council) has served a notice of intention to dispose of the property. As an Asset of Community Value (ACV), an Interim Moratorium must be observed to allow a competitive bid from a community interest group.
The Interim Moratorium period, which runs for a period of 6 weeks from Thursday, 14 May 2026.
A community interest company that wants to be treated as a potential bidder must put a request in writing before 25 June 2026 to Thanet District Council, Cecil Street Offices, Margate, Kent CT9 1XZ or propertyandassetmanagement@thanet.gov.uk
During this 6-week period (the ‘Interim Moratorium’), an eligible community group may request in writing to be a potential bidder for the asset. This request would then result in a 6-month deferral of the disposal (the ‘Full Moratorium’). Please note that Thanet District Council is not able to offer advice on the Asset of Community Value regime.
