The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has received notification from An Coimisiún Pleanála
(formerly An Bord Pleanála) of receipt of an application for permission under Section 291 of
the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, for the below-mentioned development.
Oriel Windfarm Ltd has submitted this planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for the
construction, operation and decommissioning of an offshore wind farm, known as the Oriel
Wind Farm Project. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and a Natura
Impact Statement (NIS) have been prepared in respect of the proposed development.
The Commission has notified the Department for Infrastructure that the proposed development
to which the application for permission relates would be likely to have significant effects on the
environment in Northern Ireland.

Proposed development: Offshore renewable energy infrastructure across an offshore
wind farm area of approximately 27.7km2
consisting of 25 No. offshore wind turbines with a
maximum tip height of 270m and a combined maximum export capacity of 375MW, a network
of subsea inter-array cables, 1 No. offshore substation, subsea export cable, an underground
Transition Joint Bay at the proposed landfall, underground onshore export cables, onshore
electricity substation adjacent to proposed connection point, 2 No. 27m high line cable
interface masts, 12 No. temporary construction compounds and all associated and ancillary
above and below ground development.

Planning permission is sought for a period until the expiry of the Maritime Area Consent for
the Project on 22 December 2067.
Address of proposed development: The Offshore Wind Farm site is located in the
maritime area and is positioned approximately 22km east of Dundalk town centre,
18km east of Blackrock, 6km south of the Cooley Peninsula and 10km north-east of
Dunany Point.
The Onshore Infrastructure is located approximately halfway between Drogheda and
Dundalk, to the west of the town of Ardee, within the townlands of Dunany, Mitchelstown,
Port, Nicholastown (Electoral Division of Dysart in the Barony of Ferrard), Boycetown, Togher,
Clonmore, Tullydonnell, Corstown (Electoral Division of Drumcar in the Barony of Ardee),
Corstown (Electoral Division of Dunleer in the Barony of Ferrard), Drumcar, Mullincross,
Charleville, Dromgoolestown, Richardstown (Electoral Division of Stabannan in the Barony of
Ardee), Harristown and Stickillin in Co. Louth.
