Proposed development at land north of Banwell and west of Wolvershill Road, Banwell

I give notice that Ainscough Strategic Land is applying to the North Somerset Council for planning permission for outline planning application with Environmental Statement for residential-led mixed use development comprising up to 600 residential dwellings including specialist later living accommodation (classes C2 and C3), mixed-use local centre (non-residential uses to include Classes E, F2 and sui generis (pub/restaurant)), a primary school (class F1), sports and leisure provision including community park, public open space and associated access, infrastructure, landscape and ancillary works. All matters reserved except for access from Wolvershill Road and Summer Lane.

The proposed development is accompanied by an Environmental Statement, is a major development, affects public rights of way, affects the setting of a Listed Building and does not accord with the provisions of the development plan in force in the area in which the land to which the application relates is situated. The application was initially advertised on 6 February 2025, but following further information from the applicant, submitted under Regulation 25 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017, the council is undertaking this re-notification. The amended plans and further information submitted has revisions to the proposal which include minor amendments to landscape and recreational space areas, minor changes to layout of local centre, minor changes to the Wolvershill Road main access junction and Summer Lane access junction.

Members of the public may inspect copies of the application, the Environmental Statement, the plans and other documents submitted with it at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/planning and at North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1UJ during normal office hours until the application is finally determined.

Anyone who wishes to make representations about this application should submit their comments at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/planning or post to Development Management (2 West Post Point), North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1UJ by 20 June 2026.
