Town and Country Planning Act 1990 PLANNING INQUIRY

Opening on 2nd June 2026 at 10.00am

Being held in Carlisle across two different venues as follows: Civic Centre, Rickergate, CA3 8QG (on 2nd, 4th, 5th, 11th & 12th June) & People First Conference Centre, Milbourne Street, CA2 5XB (on 3rd, 9th & 10th June)

REASON FOR INQUIRY: Appeal by North West Regeneration Ltd relating to Cumberland Council’s refusal of permission (Ref. 1/23/9005) for the proposed establishment of an Energy from Waste facility (an SRF fed Gasification Plant) on land adj. to former Unit D, Kingmoor Park Rockcliffe Estate, Rockcliffe, Carlisle.

An Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State will hold an Inquiry opening on the above date to decide the appeal. Members of the public may attend the Inquiry and, at the Inspector’s discretion, express their views. If you wish to participate in the Inquiry virtually please email MWPlanning@Cumberland.gov.uk or T. 0300 373 3730 for details of how to do so as soon as possible prior to the Inquiry. If you, or anyone you know has a disability and is concerned about facilities at the Inquiry venue, you should contact the Council to confirm that suitable provisions are in place.
