TUNBRIDGE WELLS BOROUGH COUNCIL LOCAL PLAN REVIEW 2026 ‘CALL FOR SITES’
What is planned?
TUNBRIDGE WELLS BOROUGH COUNCIL LOCAL PLAN REVIEW 2026 ‘CALL FOR SITES’
From 11 May until 3 August 2026
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council adopted its Local Plan in December 2025, and within this, Strategic Policy STR 1: The Development Strategy, commits the Council to commencing a Local Plan Review within 6 months of adoption of the Plan.
As part of the work for the Local Plan Review, the Council is carrying out a ‘call for sites’ to enable land to be submitted to the Council for assessment to establish whether it could be a potential site allocation in the Local Plan Review as it progresses. Suitable sites are needed to assist in meeting the development needs (including new homes, new jobs and other land uses) of the borough to cover the Local Plan period of 2029-2044.
Landowners, developers/agents, businesses, residents and other parties are invited to submit potential development sites to the Council for consideration.
Sites submitted as part of this ‘Call for Sites’ will be assessed for their suitability for development together with the likelihood of them being available and achievable for development under a process known as the ‘Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment’. However, it must be noted that even if land is identified by this Assessment as having potential for development - this does not in any way indicate or confirm that it will be allocated for development in the new Local Plan.
The ‘Call for Sites’ will run for 12 weeks from Monday 11 May to midnight on Monday 3 August 2026.
A completed site submission form is needed to enable the Council to consider the site. For a site submission form and further details please visit: tunbridgewells.gov.uk/planning/planning-policy Sites can be submittedonline, via email or by post.
