THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL TREE PRESERVATION ORDER NO 60(2026)
TAKE NOTICE THAT the Scottish Borders Council, the planning authority for the area under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the above mentioned Act on 30 March 2026 made the above Tree Preservation Order in respect of Weeping Willow at rear of the Lawries Garage, St Boswells. The Council is of the opinion that the Weeping Willow Tree contributes screening and aesthetic local landscape value to the former garage site rear of Lawries Garage, St Boswells.
A certified copy of the Order (including a map) will be available for inspection at Planning, Housing and Related Services, Corporate Improvement and Economy, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SA during normal working hours. The Order contains a Direction under Section 163 of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 to the effect that the Order shall take effect provisionally on 30 March 2026 and shall continue in force by virtue of the said Section until expiry of a period of six months beginning with the date on which the Order was made or until the date on which the Order is confirmed, whichever first occurs.
Any objections or representations in respect of the Order must be made in writing to the Chief Executive, The Scottish Borders Council, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SA within 28 days of this Notice. Every such objection or representation must, unless it is an objection to the Order as a whole, specify the particular tree in respect of which it is made and the grounds thereof. Applications for planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent listed below together with the plans and other documents submitted with them may be examined at Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells between the hours of 9am and 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 9am and 3.30pm on Friday.
Written comments may be made to the Service Director - Regulatory Services, Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SA within 21 days from the date of the publication of this notice. Alternatively, representations can be made online by visiting our web site at http://eplanning.scotborders.gov.uk/onlineapplications/ It is also possible to visit any library and use the Planning Public Access system to view documents. To do this, please contact your nearest library to book time on a personal computer.
Please state clearly whether you are objecting, supporting or making a general comment. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, representations may be made available for public inspection.
