What is planned?

Notice of intended works to common land (s38 Commons Act 2006)
Relating to: BROAD STREET COMMON, WOOD STREET VILLAGE, GUILDFORD

Bewley Homes Plc has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Broad Street Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State.

The proposed works are:

(1) Improvements to existing access which forms part of the common. Access across the area is proposed to be maintained and improved with the addition of new footways and an overall increase in green verge of 91.7sqm.

(2) Works to the existing utilities and installation of new utilities within the area.

(3) Temporary use of the land for sales parking with matting placed over grassed area.

The works will be located in a small portion of the verge forming part of the common, immediately south of, and comprising the access to, Hester’s Yard, Oak Hill, Wood Street Village, Guildford GU3 3ET. Total area for proposed works is 318.58 comprising an increase in green area/verge of 91.7sqm.

The proposals are being made to accompany a new residential development providing much needed housing, affordable housing and local facilities to Wood Street Village.
