What is planned?

LICHFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972 S123
NOTICE OF INTENDED DISPOSAL OF LAND

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972, that Lichfield District Council (“the Council”) intends to dispose of land designated as public open space. The land affected is at the following locations:
1) Drainage feature off Coulter Lane, Burntwood
2) Land off Eastern Avenue, Lichfield
3) Darnford Park, Lichfield
4) Saddlers Park, Lichfield
5) Shortbutts Park, Lichfield
6) York Close Woodland, Lichfield
The disposal will be by way of a 40-year lease to Lichfield West Midlands Traded Services Limited (the Council’s wholly owned company). The purpose of the lease is to manage the land as mini nature reserves to enhance biodiversity. Public access to these areas will be retained. The Council will retain ownership of the land, but due to the length of the lease this qualifies as ‘disposal’ of the asset.
Copies of plans showing the affected land may be viewed on the Council’s website or at the offices of Lichfield District Council, District Council House, Frog Lane, Lichfield between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
By virtue of S123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 the Council is required to give formal notice of its intention to dispose of public open space and consider any objections to the proposed disposals. All objections or representations in respect of the above proposal should be made in writing and addressed to: The Governance Manager, Lichfield District Council, District Council House, Frog Lane, Lichfield, WS13 6YU or by email to

governance-admin@lichfielddc.gov.uk

by no later than 9 January 2026. The grounds for any objection should be stated.
Dated 12 December 2025
Kerry Dove, Chief Operating Officer
Lichfield District Council, Frog Lane, Lichfield, WS13 6YU
