What is planned?

Proposed Development at Chyngton Brooks, Seaford BN25 4AR

I give notice that Mr Paul White of the National Trust is applying to the County Council as Planning Authority for planning permission for the following development: The restoration of intertidal habitat at Chyngton Brooks through the managed breaching of the tidal flood embankment and associated minor earthworks to improve hydraulic functioning and biodiversity. (Please note that this application site crosses the administrative boundary of the South Downs National Park Planning Authority and as such, the County Council’s Planning Service is required to determine a duplicate application).

Please note the application affects Public Right of Way No. Seaford 27B.

Members of the public can view the application on the Lewes District Council’s, website, East Sussex County Councils website, or inspect the application, plans and other documents submitted with it by appointment at the offices of the Director, Communities, Economy and Transport Department, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes until the 9 January 2026. Please note that there are public speaking arrangements when applications are determined at Planning Committee. Ring 01273 481846 for a guidance leaflet or visit the website.

The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.
