What is planned?
NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990 AND WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 THE WILTSHIRE COUNCIL PARISH OF PURTON FOOTPATHS 53, 55 AND 56 DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025
On 7 November 2025 Wiltshire Council confirmed the above order under section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert the following paths in Purton; PURT53, from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8826, leading in a northerly direction, for approximately 134 metres to OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8840, to a new route leading from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8826 in a north easterly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0918-8827, then in a broadly northerly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8840, a distance of approximately 150 metres, having a width of 2 metres. PURT55, from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8826, leading in a north easterly direction, for approximately 139 metres to OS Grid Reference SU 0930-8832, to a new route leading from OS Grid Reference SU 0918-8827, leading in a north easterly, then northerly, then easterly, then southerly, then easterly, then northerly direction, to OS Grid Reference SU 0925-8832, a distance of approximately 127 metres, having a width of 2 metres. PURT56, from OS Grid Reference SU 0917- 8840, leading in a south easterly direction, then east south easterly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0940-8830, a distance of approximately 246 metres, to a new route leading from OS Grid Reference SU 0940-8830, leading in a broadly westerly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0916-8833, a distance of approximately 227 metres, having a width of 2 metres.
Thereupon the Cricklade and Wootton Bassett Rural District Council Area Definitive Map and Statement dated 1952 shall be modified accordingly. A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Rights of Way and Countryside, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 8JN from 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday. This order comes into force on the date on which Wiltshire Council certify that the terms of Article 2 of the order have been complied with, but if any person aggrieved by the order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraphs 7 and 8 of Schedule 14 to that Act.
