SECTION 77 OF THE SCHOOL STANDARDS AND FRAMEWORK ACT 1998 (as amended)
PLAYING FIELD LAND AT THE MARYWOOD CENTRE
NOTICE is given in accordance with Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 in respect of playing field land at the Marywood Centre, Gilby Road, Ladywood, Birmingham B16 8RQ.
The Secretary of State has directed that the general community should be consulted about the playing field land as defined in the above legislation.
Birmingham City Council wishes to dispose 3704 square meters of playing field land at the Marywood Centre, Gilby Road, Ladywood, Birmingham B16 8RQ under Section 77 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998. The City of Birmingham School vacated the Marywood Centre on the 16th January 2023 and the playing field land comprises of an assortment of hard play areas and informal spaces.
Any person who wishes to make a representation regarding disposal of the playing field land should do so via the following BeHeard webpage from Monday 24th November 2025: https://www.birminghambeheard.org.uk/bcc/marywood-centresection- 77 or by writing to Property Management Team, Education Infrastructure, PO Box 15843, Birmingham B2 2RT or by email to ediproperty@birmingham.gov.uk. Please include Marywood Centre in the heading of any correspondence. The date by which representation should be made is Monday 19th January 2026.
After this time Birmingham City Council, will be applying to the Secretary of State for Education to dispose of the site.
