What is planned?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 SECTION 119 AND WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 SECTION 53

THE WILTSHIRE COUNCIL PARISH OF SOUTHWICK FOOTPATHS 36 AND 37 DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

On 3 November 2025, Wiltshire Council confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed will divert Footpaths Southwick 36 and 37 situated at Hangar House, Lambretts Marsh, Southwick. That entire width of Southwick 36 will be diverted from OSGR ST 831-5470, leading in a broadly north east easterly direction for approximately 169m to OSGR ST 8328-5471, to a new route at OSGR ST 8312-5472 leading in a broadly easterly direction for approximately 166m to OSGR ST 8328-5471, the path having a width of 2m. Also, that entire width of Southwick 37 will be diverted from OSGR ST 8311-5472, leading in a broadly north easterly direction for approximately 100m to OSGR ST 8317-5478, to a new route from OSGR ST 8310-5470, leading in a broadly north easterly direction for 24m to OSGR ST 8312-5472, having a width of 2m then continuing in a broadly north easterly direction for approximately 76m to OSGR ST 8317-5478, the path having a width of 2m as shown on the order map.

A copy of Southwick Rural District Council Area Definitive Map dated 1953 shall be modified accordingly. A copy of the order as confirmed, the order map may be seen free of charge at, Wiltshire Council, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wilts, BA14 8JN from 0900 to 1700 Monday to Friday by appointment. The order comes into force on 3 November 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the order wishes to question its validity on the grounds that it is not contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 14 November 2025 to make an application to the High Court. Notice is hereby given that the terms of Article 1 in the above order have been satisfied and that both Articles 1 and 2 have come into force.
