What is planned?

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 16 (B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC

BRICK LANE AND WOODSER STREET – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets made an order which will prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, stopping or proceeding, the following temporary prohibition:

Location: Brick Lane between its junction with Hanbury Street and Buxton Street.

Reason: Installation of an art trail and painting of the road for an activation event. The works are to be carried out by Arena Media TA Organic PR.

Period:

Phase 1: Friday 14th November 2025 to Tuesday 18th November 2025

Phase 2: An additional closure on Monday 1st December 2025 will be required to removal all street paint and deinstall neon signage and all artworks.

Alternative Route: For vehicular traffic will be via Hanbury Street, Spital Street and Buxton Street.

WHITE POST LANE (REVOCATION ORDER 2025) – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 proposes to revoke an order which currently prohibits vehicular and pedestrian traffic from entering, stopping or proceeding, the following temporary prohibition:

Location: White Post Lane, east from 29A White Post Lane to its junction with the eastern arm of White Post Lane.

Background: The original order which came into force on the 28th of April 2025 is currently in place to facilitate development works carried out by Ardmore Regeneration Limited.

Reason for Revocation: The Council has determined that the applicant has failed to adhere to an agreed timeline of programme of works.

Effective Date of the Revocation Order: Thursday 27th November 2025. All temporary traffic restrictions, prohibitions and diversions imposed under this previous order shall cease to have effect.

COLUMBIA ROAD “DAY OF THE DEAD” ORDER 2025

The Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets hereby give notice that on Saturday 1st November 2025, vehicular traffic will be prohibited from entering, stopping, or proceeding in Columbia Road between its junction with Gosset Street and its junction with Barnet Grove. The restrictions on vehicular traffic will allow the “Day of the Dead” event on Columbia Road to be held on the public highway. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Chambord Street, Virginia Road, Columbia Road (Westbound), Hackney Road (Southbound), Shoreditch High Street (Southbound), Bethnal Green Road (Eastbound), and Barnet Grove (Northbound). Access will be provided for Police, Fire and Ambulance vehicles in an emergency or access may also be provided with the permission of a police officer in uniform.

HOLLYBUSH GARDENS – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets made an order which will prohibit pedestrian traffic from entering, stopping, or proceeding, the following temporary prohibition:

Location: Footway closure on east side of 10 to 14 Hollybush Gardens north from its junction with Bethnal Green Road.

Reason: To facilitate residential development works at 10 to 14 Hollybush Gardens. The works are to be carried out on the public highway by MD construction Ltd.

Period: Thursday 14th August 2025 to Saturday 4th April 2026

LANRICK ROAD – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets made an order which will prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, stopping, or proceeding in the following temporary prohibition:

Location: End of Lanrick Road, specifically within the Hammerhead turnaround area.

Reason: To facilitate remediation works to the blocks of flats on Lanrick Road. The closure will help ensure safety of workers and residents during the duration of the works. The works are to be carried out by S.D Plastering Limited.

Period: Wednesday 15th October 2025 to Saturday 30th May 2026

MANCHESTER ROAD REMEMBRANCE PARADE 2025 – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets will prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, stopping, or proceeding, the following temporary prohibition:

Location: Manchester Road between its junction with Seyssel Street and Stebondale Street.

Reason: For the remembrance service parade. The road closure will be led by the Metropolitan Police Service.

Period: Sunday 9th November 2025 from 10:30 hours to 11:30 hours.

Alternative Route: For vehicular traffic will be via Stebondale Street and Saunders Ness Road.

OLD BETHNAL GREEN ROAD – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets made an order which will prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, stopping, or proceeding, the following temporary prohibition:

Location: Old Bethnal Green Road at both sides of railway bridge at junction with Clare Street and Roberta Street.

Reason: To carry out essential works. The works are to be carried out by Blade Traffic Management.

Period: Monday 27th October 2025 to Thursday 30th October 2025.

ATLEY ROAD – NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets made an order, which will prohibit pedestrian traffic from entering, stopping or proceeding in the length of footway in:

Location: North Side of the footway on Royal Mint Street from its junction with Mansell Street for approximately 60 metres east. (Before the Buy Foods Supermarket).

Reason: To facilitate and service the development at 88 Royal Mint Street, Block A during the construction phase. The works are to be carried out by Midgard Ltd.

Period: Wednesday 6th August 2025 to 13th February 2026. The footway closure will be in place daily from 08:00 hours to 05:30 hours.

SQUIRRIES STREET – The Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets hereby give notice that vehicular traffic will be prohibited from travelling northbound on Squirries Street, north from its junction with Bethnal Green Road. The restriction on vehicular traffic will allow for emergency cladding re-mediation works. The works are to be carried on the public highway by TSC South Ltd. The restriction on vehicular traffic will operate from Monday 27th October 2025 to Monday 17th November 2025. Vehicular traffic will be diverted via Bethnal Green Road, Barnet Grove and Florida Street.
