What is planned?

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH 10 PARISH OF SADBERGE)

DIVERSION ORDER 2025

The above named Order was made on the 21st October 2025 pursuant to section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the Order will be to divert the length of Public Footpath 10 Sadberge described in Part 1 of the Schedule below and replace it with the footpath described in Part 2 of the Schedule. The footpath is located at Street House Farm, Sadberge.

A copy of the Order, the Order Map and a location plan have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Darlington Borough Council, 17 Allington Way, Darlington DL1 4QB from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Copies of the documents may be bought there at the price of £1. These can also be viewed on the Council’s website at the following address:

Any representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to the Assistant Director – Law and Governance, Darlington Borough Council, Town Hall, Darlington DL1 5QT (ref: AE) or by email to footpathorders@darlington.gov.uk

 not later than the 30th November 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation, any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

SCHEDULE

PART 1

DESCRIPTION OF SITE OF EXISTING PART OF FOOTPATH 10 SADBERGE

Starting at Point A, NZ 34562 15572 heading west through a gate into a garden where it begins to turn southwest by buildings before being crossed by a fence and meeting Sadberge Road at NZ 34330 15506.

PART 2

DESCRIPTION OF SITE OF NEW PART OF FOOTPATH 10 SADBERGE

Starting at Point A (NZ 34562 15572) on the existing route, the proposed line proceeds in a south western direction toward Point B (NZ 34530 15541). The route then shallows, curving gradually toward a more westerly direction through Points C (NZ 34437 15494), then D (NZ 34382 15437) and before finally reaching Point E (NZ 34333 15468) where both the proposed diversion and the route itself terminates by Sadberge Road. Point E is approximately 38 metres due south of where the existing route meets the road.
