What is planned?

PUBLIC NOTICE
APPLICATION FOR A MARINE CONSTRUCTION
LICENCE UNDER PART 4 OF THE MARINE AND
COASTAL ACCESS ACT 2009

A Marine Licence application has been made by Ayesa on
behalf of Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council to
repair the existing Portrush Harbour bridge.
The proposed works include, but are not limited to:
• Erection of temporary scaffolding, in two stages to
ensure constant access/egress for small boats.
• Removal of damaged concrete areas.
• Repair/strengthening of significantly corroded
reinforcement.
• Repointing of masonry to piers and abutments above low
tide level using marine grade hydraulic lime mortar.
• Repointing of masonry to piers and abutments below low
tide level using marine grade cementitious mortar with
anti-washout properties.
• Installation of concrete apron to bridge piers to infill areas
of scouring and provide protection.
• Installation of cathodic protection to reinforced concrete
bridge beams.
Marine and Fisheries Division DAERA, is the Marine
Licensing authority for Northern Ireland, and controls the
deposit of materials from the high water mean spring tide
mark out to 12 nautical miles.
