Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2015

NOTICE UNDER ARTICLE 15 OF APPLICATION FOR PLANNING PERMISSION ACCOMPANIED BY AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT AND UNDER THE PLANNING (LISTED BUILDING AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990

KCC/FH/0128/2025 – Proposed development at Dungeness Borrow Pit, Dungeness, Romney Marsh, Kent, TN29 9NA.

EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Limited is applying to Kent County Council, as the County Planning Authority, for planning permission for the continuation of seasonal shingle recycling operations beyond October 2026, for the purpose of recovering material used in the maintenance of flood defences at Dungeness.

The planning application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement. The proposed development has the potential to impact a public right of way, as well as the setting of a listed building and the Dungeness Conservation Area.

Details of the application, the Environmental Statement, and the plans and other documents submitted with the application can be viewed on Kent County Council’s website at www.kentplanningapplications.co.uk using reference KCC/FH/0128/2025.

Electronic copies of the Non-Technical Summary of the Environmental Statement are available free of charge from the applicant via email at dungenessbcommunications@edf-energy.com. Copies of the full Environmental Statement and other submission documents can be obtained from the applicant on a USB memory stick for £10, or as a printed set for £400, using the same contact email address.

All documents submitted with the application are available to view online via the County Council’s website as referenced above.

You can submit your comments on the application online using the link provided on the County Council’s website, or by emailing planning.applications@kent.gov.uk. If you prefer, you may also write to the Planning Applications Group at Kent County Council, County Hall, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1XQ. However, we strongly recommend submitting comments online or by email, as hybrid working arrangements may delay postal responses.

Anyone who wishes to make representations in relation to this application should submit comments within 30 days from the date of this notice (by 14 November 2025).
Please quote the application reference number
(KCC/FH/0128/2025) and note that comments may be drawn to the attention of Council Members, the applicant and other interested persons and may include publishing on the District Council website.
