Notice of application to vary a full licence

to abstract (take) water

Canal & River Trust and R H Falkingham & Son

have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these

applications, in accordance with Section 37 of the

Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the

Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding)

Regulations 2006.

The applications are to vary licence serial numbers

2/27/24/467/R02 and NE/027/0028/048/R01

respectively, authorising abstraction of water

from the River Ouse at Barmby on the Marsh, East

Riding, Yorkshire, between reaches at National Grid

References (NGRs) SE 69790 26858 and SE 70017

26806, SE 70709 26746 and SE 70831 26754, and at

National Grid Reference SE 67537 28825; and at the

River Derwent near Wressle, North Yorkshire, between

reaches at NGRs SE 70331 32711 and SE 70667

31359, SE 70674 31188 and SE 70677 30270, and at

NGRs SE 70458 30029, SE 68949 29009, SE 68194

28757, and SE 70551 34785. Both licences authorise

spray irrigation from 1 April to 30 September.

The variations applied for are to remove the

aggregate condition that restricts both licences’

abstraction quantities to 90 cubic metres per hour,

1,440 cubic metres per day, and 40,000 cubic metres

per year. 2/27/24/467/R02 will be able to abstract 90

cubic metres per hour, 1,440 cubic metres per day,

and 25,000 cubic metres per year. NE/027/0028/048/

R01 will be able to abstract 90 cubic metres per hour,

1,440 cubic metres per day, proposes to increase

annual abstraction from 40,000 to 49,999 cubic

metres, and proposes to add two abstraction reaches

(at NGRs SE 69405 39101 to SE 69442 39353, and

SE 69654 40465 to SE 69513 40670).
