Pre-Application Public Notice

Proposal: Proposed restoration of castle, stables and courtyard for hotel and restaurant use (including change of use of business units); restoration of church for Class D use (exhibition / 60 seat performance space); restoration of walled garden and castle pond; restoration and extension of ploughman's house for class D use (exhibition / 120 seat performance space) with external spectator space; and associated access, parking and landscaping.



=​ Location: Galgorm Castle Estate, Galgorm Road, Ballymena, BT42 1HL



=​ Public Event: A public consultation event will take place on Tuesday 30th September at Galgorm Castle from 12 noon to 3pm and from 5pm to 8pm.

At the event, display boards on the proposal will be available for viewing and feedback forms available for comments. Members of the planning team will also be available to answer any questions.



=​ Consultation Website: There will also be an opportunity to view the proposal and provide feedback online via the website: galgormheritage.com. The website will be live from Tuesday 30th September 2025 until 5pm on Tuesday 28th October.

Comments should not be made to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Any comments made to the prospective applicant are not representations to the planning authority. If a planning application is subsequently submitted to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, publicity will be undertaken at that time and there will be an opportunity to make formal representations regarding the proposal at that time.

Comments received will be summarised in a report which will be submitted with the planning application to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Personal details will not be shared with any third party, and we will not contact you in relation to any other project or for marketing purposes. The information you give will be stored securely until the determination of the planning application. Following determination, the information will be destroyed.
