NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER
OXFORD CITY COUNCIL
TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990: SECTION 257
THE OXFORD CITY COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO 320/57/10 BARTON PARK, OXFORD)
On 20 August 2025 Oxford City Council confirmed the above Order under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (the Act).
The effect of the Order, as confirmed, is to divert the public footpath located on Barton Park, Oxford which commences at Ordnance Survey grid reference SP 454531 208280 then in a generally north direction for 20 metres to SP 454533 208301 and to create an alternative footpath with a width of 2 metres throughout.
The new route commencing at Ordnance Survey grid reference SP 454531 208280, then in a west direction for a distance of approximately 15 metres to SP 454503 208282, then in a north direction for a distance of approximately 19 metres to SP 454507 208307, then in an east direction for a distance of approximately 20 metres to SP 454533 208301 with a width of 2 metres throughout.
A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order Map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at:-
Oxfordshire County Library, Queen Street, Westgate, Oxford, OX1 1DJ between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Fridays (excluding bank holidays and public holidays)
Barton Library, Barton Neighbourhood Centre, Underhill Circus, Headington, Oxford OX3 9LS between the hours of 2pm to 5:30pm on Monday, 9am – 1pm and 2pm to 5:30pm Tuesday to Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The Order comes into force at the date upon which Oxford City Council certifies that the terms agreed by the Order desire to extinguish the validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act, or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in the confirmation of the Order, he or she may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from the date of publication of the notice.
If no such application is made, the Order will take effect on the date of confirmation and the notice is first published as required by Paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to that Act.
