What is planned?

PRE-APPLICATION COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

PROPOSAL: Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility (amendment to previously approved BESS LA11/2023/1679/F including access, substation building, landscaping, lighting/CCTV columns, security fencing and ancillary site works).



LOCATION: Lands to the north and east/southeast of No. 23 Maydown Road, adjacent to Coolkeeragh ESB Power Station, Londonderry BT47 6UJ.



PUBLIC EVENT: A pre-application community consultation event will take place on Thursday 25th September 2025 between 4pm – 8pm at Best Western Plus White Horse Hotel, 68 Clooney Road, Campsie, BT47 3PA.



WEBSITE: A pre-application community consultation website for the proposal will be live from Tuesday 23rd September 2025 until Tuesday 21st October 2025 inclusive. The website can be viewed at

www.coolkeeraghbess.com

and will display details of the proposed development.

In addition to the consultation event and website, the information displayed can be obtained by post from

Coolkeeragh BESS, Belmont, Titanic Suites,

55-59 Adelaide Street, Belfast, BT2 8FE or via email at

Any comments made to the prospective applicant are not representations to the planning authority (Derry City and Strabane District Council).

If a formal planning application is submitted, local advertisement and neighbour notification will take place and there will be an opportunity to make representations to the planning authority at that time.
