What is planned?

Publication of the Overton Neighbourhood Plan 2025–2040

The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) (Regulation 16)

Overton Parish Council as the qualifying body has prepared a neighbourhood development plan, entitled the Overton Neighbourhood Development Plan 2025–2040, for their parish with the help of the local community. The neighbourhood plan sets out a vision for the future of the parish and planning policies which will be used to determine planning applications locally.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is satisfied that the submitted Overton Neighbourhood Plan complies with the relevant legal requirements and can therefore proceed to formal consultation and independent examination.

In accordance with the Regulations, the Borough Council is required to publicise the Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents and invite comments.

Copies of the Overton Neighbourhood Plan, Consultation Statement, Basic Conditions Statement, Strategic Environment Assessment Report, Habitats Regulations Report and Equalities Impact Assessment are available to view on the borough council’s website: http://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/ONP

The period for submission of representations will run from Thursday 4 September until 5pm on Thursday 16 October 2025. All representations received will be available to view publicly.

Representations can be submitted using the council’s online form, by email or by post.

Please note that all representations received will be forwarded onto the Independent Examiner. Respondents will be notified of the Local Planning Authority’s decision under Regulation 19 in relation to whether or not the plan will be adopted by the Local Planning Authority if they have given their consent to be informed.
