Notice of Application to stop up part of the Highway

Land at Twin Gables and Hylton Hayes, Lower North Street, Cheddar

Notice is hereby given that the Somerset Council has applied to Taunton Magistrates’ Court sitting at The Magistrates’ Court, St John’s Road, Taunton, TA1 4AX on Tuesday 9 September 2025 at 10:00AM for an Order under Section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of a section of the highway at Twin Gables and Hylton Hayes, Lower North Street, Cheddar, Somerset as hatched red on the plan attached to the said Order on the ground that the highway is unnecessary. The effect of the Order will be to extinguish all public rights of way over the said land.

A copy of the Order and Plan may be inspected free of charge at the Council Office at:

• Bridgwater House, Bridgwater, TA6 3AR during regular office hours Monday to Fridays (excluding bank holidays and public holidays)

from the date hereof until 9 September 2025.

Any person to whom this Notice has been given or who uses the highway specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order has a right to appear before the Magistrates’ Court to raise an objection or make a representation on the application.

Any person intending to appear before the Magistrates’ Court at the hearing of the application is requested to inform Arooj Amer and Claire Smith at Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) Limited, 1 Whitehall, Riverside, Leeds, LS1 4BN or by email to Arooj.Amer.@wbd-uk.com and Claire.Smith@wbd-uk.com before 9 September 2025 quoting reference 482796.04.
