Notice of Confirmation of a Modification Order Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 West Sussex County Council Definitive Map and Statement for Worthing West Sussex County Council (Worthing No. 1: Shoreham (Upgrade and Amendment of a Restricted Byway))
Definitive Map Modification Order 2025
On 22 July 2025 West Sussex County Council confirmed the above-named Order unopposed and without modification under Section 53 and Schedule 15 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and which takes effect on that date.
The effect of the order, confirmed as made, is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Worthing by amending the route of Restricted Byway 3156 currently commencing at point A on A259 Brighton Road and terminating at point B to be upgraded to a byway open to all traffic and to commence
instead at point C (grid reference 521618, 104982), and proceed south-south-east for approximately 22 metres with a width of 12.3 metres to point D (grid reference 521623, 104961) on the Order Plan numbered 01841.
A copy of the Order and the Order Plan may be seen free of charge at Legal Services, County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ and at Adur & Worthing District Councils during opening hours. 
A copy of the Order and Plan may be purchased for £5.00 from Legal Services, County Hall.
If any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 of the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, they may, under paragraph 12 (i) of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 7 August 2025, make an application to the High Court.
