THE A66 TRUNK ROAD
(BLANDS CORNER TO MORTON PALMS)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND
PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the county of Darlington, to facilitate an Event in safety. The work is expected to start at 12:00 on Saturday 23rd August 2025 for 2 days, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, between 12:00 and 23:59pm, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 30mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 500 metres east of Neasham Road Roundabout
to 500 metres west of Neasham Road Roundabout, a distance of 1000 metres;
(ii) close the laybys adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway from Neasham Road junction to Blands Corner junction; and
(iii) close the laybys adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway from Neasham Road junction to Morton Palms junction.
During the closures, suitable signed alternative routes will be available. Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restriction (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes. The Order comes into force on 22nd August 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
