What is planned?

NOTICE OF PRE-APPLICATION CONSULTATION
Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission plc (the Applicant), operating and known as Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks Transmission (SSEN Transmission), hereby submits notification of pre-application consultation for a proposed High Voltage Overhead Line development on land between Muaitheabhal (Uisenis) Wind Farm Substation and the proposed Balallan Switching Station.
The proposed development is for: Proposed Construction of and Keeping Installed 132kV Overhead Line and Associated Undertaking of Earthworks, the Formation of Bellmouths, Means of Access,Vegetation Clearance and Management, Site Drainage, Temporary Construction Compounds and any Other Temporary Measures and Ancillary Development required during construction (National Development).
This event follows the Route assessment consultation that was held on 10 October 2024.
Members of the local community and interested members of the public are invited to attend the following consultation event (Public Event 2, Alignment) relating to the proposal described above to be held on:
Wednesday 27 August at Kinloch Historical Society, Community Hub, HS2 9PN Stornoway, Isle of Lewis HS1 2EU between 1500 and 1900
and
Thursday 28 August at The Resource Centre, Kershader, Pairc, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis HS2 9QA between 1500 and 1900
Details of further consultation (Public Event 3, Final Proposal) will be published in due course.
This event is an opportunity to view the proposals and to meet the Applicant and the project teams who will be available to answer questions about the development.

These comments must be received no later than 25 September 2025.
Please note that any comments made to the Applicant are not representations to Scottish Ministers.
There will be opportunity to make representations to the Scottish Minister via the Energy Consents Unit following the submission of any subsequent S37 Electricity Act consent application for the development.
