What is planned?

PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH SPECIALIST RESOURCED PROVISION IN A MAINTAINED SCHOOL RAMSDEN INFANT SCHOOL, BARROW-IN-FURNESS

Notice is given in accordance with Section 19 (1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and the School Organisation (prescribed alterations to maintained schools) (England) Regulations 2016. The Local Authority is consulting on a proposal to establish Resourced Provision with a designation of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) to provide 6 places for Key Stage 1 pupils at Ramsden Infant School. The provision will be established with effect from 3 September 2025.

Within four weeks of the publication of this notice any person wishing to raise objections or make comments on the proposal may do so in writing to the School Organisation Team, Westmorland and Furness Council, Post Box 304, Kendal, LA9 4GY or by emailing school.organisation.WAF@cumbria.gov.uk by 12 August 2025.

Explanatory notes:

All objections made (and not withdrawn in writing within the representation period) will be sent in full to Westmorland and Furness Council’s Cabinet. The final decision on whether or not to develop resourced provision at Ramsden Infant School will be made by the Director of Children’s Services of Westmorland and Furness Council, Milorad Vasic using guidance provided by the Department for Education, within two months of the end of the representation period.
