York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Flood Management Works

What is planned?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 24 July 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2) & (3). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (4), (5), (6) & (7).

(1) MOOR LANE, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Moor Lane, Haxby between its junction with Crossmoor Lane and the projected southern boundary of Low Grange Farm (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 28 July 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Tuesday, 29 July 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1800hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period.

(2) RAILWAY VIEW, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Railway View, York between its junction with Thanet Road and the projected north-eastern boundary of property no. 16 (closed road) during the period when gas works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 28 July 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 15 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0730hrs and 1700hrs each weekday of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via North Lane, Jervis Road, Thanet Road.

(3) USHER LANE, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Usher Lane, Haxby between its junction with Crossmoor Lane and the projected southern boundary of Oak Tree Farm (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Thursday, 31 July 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 01 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1800hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Road, Towthorpe Road, Strensall Road, York Road, Haxby Moor Road.

(4) FOOTPATH FROM GARNET TERRACE TO WATER END, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Garnet Terrace to Water End, York between Garnet Terrace’s junction with the Footpath From Water End To Garnet Terrace And Bismark Street and a location 75 metres north-west of said junction (closed footpath) during the period when flood management works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 04 August 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 19 November 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Water End.

(5) THE VILLAGE, WIGGINTON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on The Village, Wigginton between the projected north-eastern boundary of property no’s 12B and 24 (closed road) during the period when water mains connection works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 04 August 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 08 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, Haxby Road, A1237, Wigginton Road, Mill Lane.

(6) BACK LANE BETWEEN NUMBERS 64 TO 76 NUNTHORPE ROAD, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane Between Numbers 64 To 76 Nunthorpe Road, York between its junction with Upper Price Street and a location 40 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when gas works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 04 August 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 15 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(7) MOOR LANE, DRINGHOUSES, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Moor Lane, Dringhouses, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Tadcaster Road and a location 38 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1800hrs on Wednesday, 06 August 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Thursday, 07 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Askham Lane, Gale Lane, Tadcaster Road.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
