Tree Preservation Order 2025

THE NORTH AYRSHIRE COUNCIL hereby give notice that it appears to them as Planning Authority for North Ayrshire that it is expedient in the interest of maintaining the character and amenity of land lying within the grounds of the former Seafield School, Eglinton Road, Ardrossan, in the Parish of Ardrossan and County of Ayr to make provision for preservation of the trees specified in the Schedule hereto, which trees make an important contribution to the amenity of the area, and consequently the Council have made an Order under Section 160 of The Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 prohibiting the cutting down, topping, lopping, uprooting, wilful damage or wilful destruction of any tree specified in the said Schedule.

The Order shall take effect from 11th June 2025. It can be viewed on the Council’s website:

and copies of the Order and the map referred to therein may be inspected by any person, free of charge at Ardrossan Library between the hours of 10am to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and 10am to 12.00pm on Saturdays and at Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE during working hours.

Objections or representations with respect to the Order may be made in writing to Legal Services in accordance with Regulation 5 of The Town and Country Planning (Tree Preservation Order and Trees in Conservation Areas) (Scotland) Regulations 2010. Any objection or representation must be in writing and shall be duly made if it states its grounds, specified the particular trees in respect of which it is made and is received by Legal Services no later than 14th July 2025.

Regulation 5

  1. Every objection or representation to the Planning Authority with respect to an Order shall be made in writing, shall state the grounds thereof and specify the particular trees, groups of trees, or woodlands in respect of which it is made.

  2. An objection or representation shall be duly made if it complies with Paragraph (1) of this Regulation and is received by the Planning Authority within 28 days from the date of service of the notice of the making of the Order, or the date of the publication of the notice by advertisement as the case may be.
