St Mary’s C of E Infant School
Notice is given in accordance with section 15 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, as amended by the Education Act 2011, that Surrey County Council, is proposing to close St Mary’s C of E Infant School, Shackleford Rd, Godalming GU8 6AE and transfer its pupils to Puttenham C of E Infant School, School Ln, Puttenham, Guildford GU3 1AU.
In proposing a closure of a rural primary school, Section 16 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 requires that the local authority or governing body must consult certain persons, including parents, dioceses and, where the local authority is a county council, any district and parish councils.
Surrey County Council are proposing to close St Mary’s C of E Voluntary Controlled Infant School on 31 August 2025 and offer places for its pupils at Puttenham C of E Infant School from September 2025.
Surrey County Council has complied with all applicable statutory requirements to consult in connection with this proposal. At the conclusion of the Notice period, if permission is granted by the Leader of the Council, Surrey County Council will implement the proposal.
