What is planned?

THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2013
AS AMENDED BY THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (PRE-APPLICATION CONSULTATION) (SCOTLAND) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2021

Notice under Regulation 7(2) (b) Pre-application consultation by the prospective applicant for the ‘Creation of a new single-carriageway road link, north of the M8 (A723/Newhouse Interchange) to the A73 north of Stand/Riggend with associated earthworks, drainage, lighting, landscaping, signage and environmental mitigations’. 

The site is located on land between the M8 (A723/Newhouse Interchange) and the A73 south of Cumbernauld. 

Three drop-in events will take place on the following days: Tuesday 17th June 2025 at Airdrie Library, 14:00 - 19:00; Thursday 19th June 2025 at Chapelhall Library, 14:00 - 19:00; Tuesday 24th June 2025 at Cumbernauld Library, 14:00 - 19:00. During this time, members of the project team will be available to respond to any questions and receive feedback on the proposals.

If you wish to make comments on the proposals shown at these first drop-in events, you may do so via a feedback form available at the event or the project website (above), by email or in writing to EALR Project Team, North Lanarkshire Council, Civic Centre, Windmillhill Street, Motherwell, ML1 1AB no later than 10 August 2025. 

This notice does not relate to a live planning application. Any comments made as part of this consultation process are not representations to North Lanarkshire Council in its role as planning authority. Comments should not be made to North Lanarkshire Council’s planning service. If a planning application is subsequently submitted, statutory neighbour notification and publicity will be undertaken and the opportunity to make formal representations on the planning application proposal will be afforded at that time.
