Notice is hereby given that SSE Thermal Generation (Scotland) Limited (“the Applicant”), company registration number SC664055, with its registered office at Inveralmond House, 200 Dunkeld Road, Perth, Scotland, PH1 3AQ, has applied to the Scottish Ministers for consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to construct and operate a low carbon combined cycle gas turbine generating station with a capacity of up to 910 megawatts, including carbon capture plant and ancillary development (“the Proposed Development”) on land at and within the vicinity of Peterhead Power Station, Boddam, approximately 1.5 kilometres south of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, AB42 3BZ (centred on National Grid Reference 412597, 842972). The Proposed Development is known as the Peterhead Low Carbon Power Station Project and is subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). An EIA Report has been produced to accompany the application for Section 36 consent.
The Company has also requested for a direction under Section 57(2) of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 that planning permission for the Proposed Development be deemed to be granted.
The Applicant has submitted further Additional Information (‘Additional Information 3’) in respect of the Proposed Development to the Scottish Ministers, which includes:
 an Additional Information Report dated 16 May 2025, including:
o Appendix A – Updated Non-Technical Summary of the EIA Report;
o Appendix B – Updated EIA Report Chapter 18 ‘Climate Change
and Sustainability’ and Appendix 18A ‘Sustainability Review’; and
o Appendix C – Updated EIA Report Chapter 21 ‘Summary of Likely
Significant Effects’.
 an Updated Planning Statement dated 19 May 2025.
A copy of the documents comprised within the Additional Information 3 submission together with a copy of the original EIA Report and other Application documents and plans, including plans showing the location and extent of the Site, are available for public inspection in person, free of charge, during normal office hours at:

All previous representations received by Scottish Ministers in relation to the application remain valid.
Any new representations on the application may be submitted by email to the Scottish Government via

will receive acknowledgement.
All representations should be received not later than 8 July 2025, although the Scottish Ministers may consider representations received after this date.
Any subsequent Additional Information which is submitted by or on behalf of the Applicant will be subject to further public notice in this manner, and representations to such information will be accepted as per this notice.
Where Scottish Ministers are required to, or decide to exercise their discretion to do so, they can cause a public inquiry to be held.
Following examination of the environmental information and all views and representations received, Scottish Ministers will determine this application for consent in one of two ways:
 Consent the proposal, with or without conditions attached; or
 Reject the proposal
